Signs Your Home Needs to Be Repiped

Does your home need to be repiped?

Montgomery Repiping While a home’s piping system can last an upwards of 40 to 50 years, it may not always be in your best interest to keep them for so long. Maintenance services are only beneficial for so long before your pipes have simply served their purpose. Below are five of the most common indicators that your home needs to be repiped.

The first most common sign that your piping system should be redone is consistent leakage. If you have already attempted to fix leaking pipes, but the problem occurs time and time again, then you need to replace the pipe. Most likely, this is taking place because of years of excessive mineral deposit buildup. It’s important not to wait to have this done, as neglecting to do so could result in irreversible damages.

The second indicator is low water pressure. You may notice when you go to take a shower or when you’re filling the sink. If this goes on for an extended period of time, then it’s time to consult a professional plumbing provider. Many times, if caught early on, your pipes can be repaired rather than replaced.

The third indicator is sputtering, irregular water flow coming from your faucets. You’ll most commonly notice this when you first go to turn on the sink or bath faucet. This result comes from stress fractures in your pipes. Another explanation is from small holes that have developed in your pipes throughout the years. These small holes form from hard water mineral deposits.

The fourth indicator is a distinct copper taste in your home’s water. This is another direct result of aging pipes. The copper taste comes from dust like particles that sediment into the water flow. While this is not exceptionally harmful, it is unsanitary and should be treated immediately. Give us a call today if you even suspect that your water has copper sediments in it.

The fifth and final common indicator that your pipes need redone, is brown like water when you first time on a facet. Once again, this is the result of pipes that are rusting or corroding into your water. Do not drink the water if you see even the slightest tint of brown.
